description

Bird under the sun

The Picasso ceramic numbered A.R. 174, titled "Oiseau au soleil" ("Bird Under the Sun"), is a white earthenware ashtray created in 1952 at the Madoura pottery studio in Vallauris, France. This ceramic piece is a fine example of Picasso’s ability to transform everyday objects into artistic masterpieces, combining his love for animals with bold, expressive design.

The circular form of the ashtray provides the perfect canvas for a stylized bird, gracefully depicted beneath a radiant sun, a motif commonly found in Picasso’s work. The decoration is applied using black oxide under a white glaze, creating a striking contrast that enhances the composition’s energy and movement. Measuring approximately 6 inches (15.2 cm) in diameter, this ceramic is both an artistic and functional piece.

"Oiseau au soleil" was produced in a limited edition of 500, with each piece individually numbered, inscribed ‘Edition Picasso,’ and stamped ‘Madoura Plein Feu’ on the underside, confirming its authenticity and origin. This ceramic reflects Picasso’s passion for ceramics as a medium for storytelling and artistic exploration, making it a highly sought-after collector’s item and a beautiful representation of his work in applied arts.

A must-have product

image

"But in certain circumstances and owing to the claims of duty or the obligations of business it will frequently occur that pleasures have to be repudiated and annoyances accepted. The wise man therefore always."

Larry Lawson

Amazing...loved it

image

"It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. The generated Lorem Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humor, or non-characteristic words , etc."

Lori Stevens

Highly recommended!

image

"The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form."

Bryan Knight

Wonderful Product

image

"Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more."
